We are obsessed with tahini so when we heard of a cookie that combined tahini with rye flour and chocolate, we knew it had to be good. And we were not wrong. This is simply one of the best cookies we have ever tasted.

We are fully aware that you hardly need yet another recipe for spaghetti al pesto. But there are a few twists that turn this simple Italian classic into a rather nutrition packed meal. And a really tasty one as well.

Vegan Sesame Crusted Avocado Salad

I have to admit that I had my doubts about this recipe. While I was coating each avocado wedge in almond flour and sesame seeds, I couldn’t help but think that it was a waste of time (and two ripe avocados) to bake them when they tastes perfectly good au natural in a salad. We’ve done some previous baked avocado experiments […]

Green Pancakes – Three Ways

We love green pancakes (aka spinach crêpes) in our family and are constantly exploring more ways to incorporate them into various meals. We have got lots of examples and ideas in our cookbooks but here are three new favorites: 1. Add mustard, lentils, sliced tomato and cheese to you pancakes. Fold them up, bake them […]

Rhubarb, Ginger & Strawberry Soup

My grandma had rhubarbs growing in her garden and would cook them into a sweet, tangy and unfortunately quite stringy soup with lots of little bits in it. I never liked that soup. She passed away while I was still young so I don’t remember a lot about her.

Spring Picnic Bread

Picnic season is finally upon us and we have been kicking it off with two new favorite things. The first one is a bike and the other is a bread. We have been dreaming of a Danish cargo bike for years and years, and last month we finally splurged on this one. It’s the perfect vehicle for us because we can fit all […]

One Soup – Three Ways

I feel extra enthusiastic about this post partly because I think we are on to something good here. But also because this headline speaks so much to my magazine-publishing-heart (my previous career). This is a dinner concept that we have played around with lately and it works particularly well for families with sensitive eaters or allergies. The idea is built around […]

Roasted Veggie Grain Platter

Hi, David here. I’ll get to the recipe soon but first I just wanted to share a little scene from last night. Isac was watching a baking program for kids and as I was tucking him in, he thoroughly explained the whole process of making croissants to me. ”You have so much butter in croissants, dad. Like, a lot. You […]

Blueberry Chia Bowl with Warm Banana and Sesame Brittle

Before we dig into this showpiece of a sweet bowl, I wanted to share a little feature that I started on my instagram this month. I simply call it March Favorites. It’s a curated list of seasonal favorites that I will share each month. Things that I wear or use and ingredients that we cook with. And since it’s a new thing, I included it […]

Hippie Pizza + video

Two things spinned in my head when I woke up Wednesday morning. Both were related to pizza. I had fallen asleep while watching the first episode of David Chang’s new Netflix series Ugly Delicious. Pizza and authenticity was the theme but the first thought in my head was actually pie. Chang visits a pizza chef in Brooklyn that makes […]

Bad Jokes and Good Spreads

After having spent 30 minutes listening to my soon eight-year-old daughter telling a joke, I can tell you with 100% certainty that she’s got a talent for comedy. Someone apparently told her this joke in school and she tried explaining it to me repeatedly without ever reaching the pun. It was the funniest thing I’ve heard in years. Especially because she refused to […]

Vegan Love Shakes!

We usually don’t do a big thing of Valentine’s Day so I’m not sure what happened here. Maybe it was because we recently got married or because Elsa has been drawing and folding Valentine gifts (for us!) for the past week. Perhaps it was because Noah slowly has been starting his kindergarten training so we are finally getting a few moments together again without […]

What's new
Hello and welcome.

We started Green Kitchen Stories back in 2009! — and the site has basically not changed at all since the very beginning. But after years of talking about a redesign, we finally got it done. This is Green Kitchen Stories 2.0 and we are really happy with how it has turned out.

There is a new and totally improved recipe archive where you can see preview images of all the recipes and scroll or filter the categories.  A Life & Travel section where we have gathered some of our travel guides and photos and posts about the kids. A much improved book section and a new video section. We will also be adding a shop later on that we are very excited about!

Hope you will enjoy the new site!
Big love!

OUR NEW BOOK!

Green Kitchen Quick + Slow

This book captures the two different cooking situations we often find ourselves in throughout a week. We’ve got recipes for the little moments – The QUICK. The easy before-work-breakfasts, the simple but special lunch you make for yourself, the weekday dinner when you don’t want to spend the whole day in the kitchen but still want to eat something delicious. An easy soba and tofu salad, a blitz-roasted tomato and harissa pasta served over yogurt, or a speedy lentil and feta bake. Quick, hands-off, low effort – big flavor! But we also cover the special moments – The SLOW. When cooking becomes the best part of the day. When you put on your favorite music and focus on making homemade kimchi burgers, mandolin fennel thinly for a crunchy slaw, cook a 4 hour vegetable ragu, pick up that special cheese, or place potatoes in salt brine on Sunday because you want to serve fermented fries the next week. Food you cook when you have friends coming over or when you just want an excuse to have a joyful moment. We hope it can be a reminder to balance the quick and slow in the kitchen. And in life. A cookbook, but also a conversation about how food can be our best therapy, friend and the ultimate joy.
You can read more about the book here.
